Tim Powell is a Managing Principal of Foodservice IP (FSIP). His responsibilities include recommending and developing business strategies, market sizing, designing qualitative and quantitative research methods, strategic planning and project management. Tim serves as a trusted foodservice adviser to management at several food companies.
Prior to FSIP, he spent several years with foodservice research and consulting firm Technomic as a Principal. Tim previously worked in similar consulting and marketing roles with KPMG LLP and IBM.
He is a regular contributor to Restaurant News, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Columbus Dispatch, Advertising Age, Reuters as well as other local publications. He has appeared on Fox Business News, NPR and other local television and radio programs. Tim regularly presents at a variety of client and industry events and conferences.
Tim earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at The Ohio State University and a Masters of Business Administration degree at the University of Illinois. He has completed graduate level social science and economics courses at the University of Chicago.
Julie Heseman is a Principal with FSIP. Julie has several years of experience in the foodservice industry managing projects, developing new business, handling P&Ls, market sizing, supply chain research and overseeing the growth of client portfolios. Her experience spans foodservice manufacturers, broadline distributors and chain restaurant operators.
Prior to joining FSIP, Julie served as a product manager for Home Chef, a pioneering meal kit company. Julie was also a Director of Insights with the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA), where she conducted research efforts for more than 160 foodservice manufacturers. Prior to IFMA, Julie managed and conducted research and consulting projects with Technomic, Inc. as a Senior Consultant.
Julie earned a Masters in Business Administration degree in Revenue Management from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Tulane University.
Joyce Baird is a Strategic Sales Director with FSIP’s Advisory Services Practice. She has more than 20 year of management, sales, and marketing experience in the food, beverage, and nutritionals industries.
Joyce comes to FSIP from Delavau Food Partners, where she oversaw the sales function and contributed to the organization’s growth strategy. Previously, she served in several senior-level positions directing foodservice strategies, marketing, and business development activities at Solazyme Roquette Nutritionals, Nu-Mega Ingredients and Symrise.
In her role with FSIP, Joyce will focus on managing teams and consulting activities related to chain restaurants, food retailers, food and beverage suppliers and overall division strategy.
Joyce earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Illinois Wesleyan University.
Abby Dean is a Marketing Director with FSIP. Abby has more than 20 years’ experience serving clients in the food and beverage industry in a marketing capacity. Abby develops branding collateral and communication strategies, specializing in storytelling around research and data.
Abby’s clients span the supply chain—from producers, manufacturers and distributors, to restaurant operators and retailers.
Abby earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University and has completed continuing education certification in Multimedia Design.
Jenny Anderson is a Senior Associate with Foodservice IP (FSIP). Jenny specializes in industry segment and product category research, concept and menu trend analysis, and consumer research on perceptions and shopping/purchase behavior. Much of her work takes a 360-degree approach to analysis, examining restaurant and non-commercial operators, retailers and product solutions.
She is the founder of multiple industry intelligence programs, and her analyst commentary has been featured in general news media as well as a number of trade publications, including Progressive Grocer, Supermarket News, Nation’s Restaurant News, The National Provisioner, Perishables Buyer and IDDBA’s What’s In Store report.
Prior to FSIP, she focused on helping clients understand industry and consumer trends and the strategic implications to their business. She also spent several years with food industry research firm Technomic and also held positions with the National Restaurant Association, EnsembleIQ (formerly Stagnito Media) and the American Dietetic Association.
Jenny earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota.
